JAMMU, Apr 12: All Parties Migrants Coordination Commi-ttee (APMCC) has asked the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to push for re-opening of Sharda Peeth Yatra in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) as she has been bating for enhancing tourism between India and Pakistan through Jammu-Sialkot route.
In a joint statement, Vinod Pandit, Chairman APMCC and King C Bharati, National Spokesperson have said that Mehbooba Mufti should not forget that Kashmiri Pandits have been denied the right to travel to PoK for pilgrimage to ancient and historic Sharda Peeth temple located in the village of Sharda in PoK even as other local Kashmiris are being issued travel documents to visit their relatives and pilgrimage centers in PoK.
Reacting to the recent statement of Mehbooba that she wanted to create a historic monument at Jammu-Sialkot border, they said that CM must also create history like her father by pushing for re-opening of Sharda Peeth in PoK for Kashmiri Pandits.
King C Bharati reminded Mehbooba of the struggle of APMCC for reopening of Shardha Peeth temple for KPs for which APMCC Chairman Vinod Pandit had gone for 10 day fast unto death at Jammu in 2011 and later for 15 day fast unto death at Porbandar in 2013 after which APMCC was assured that the State Government would take up the matter at the appropriate levels.
Bharati regretted that the promise was conveniently forgotten and warned that APMCC will resort to more aggressive agitation if their demand for allowing Kashmiri Pandits to visit Shardha Peeth through Uri was not accepted.
