APMCC, AMEAK hold joint meet on migrant employees’ issue

JAMMU, Feb 20: A joint open meeting of All Parties Migrants Coordination Committee (APMCC) and All Migrant Employees Association Kashmir (AMEAK) was held at Sanskriti Bhawan here, today to discuss the concerns of migrant employees working in Kashmir valley under PM and Non-PM packages in which a 6-point charter of demands was prepared to be submitted to Government soon.
The meeting deliberated over the security concerns of the employees in view of the prevailing situation in Kashmir valley and the threat to their safety and security besides pending salaries of the employees.
APMCC which is spearheading the employees agitation in association with AMEAK has  been instrumental in getting pending salaries of most of the employees released has threatened Fast-unto death agitation if the Government fails to address the genuine concerns of the employees who have been seeking justice for the past so many months after the unrest in Kashmir valley.
Various issues regarding salaries, return, security and accommodation of employees were discussed threadbare and it was decided to hold an open public darbar with the Government after Mahashivratri to raise the issues and seek on spot resolution of their genuine problems for which the employees prepared a six point charter of demands/suggestions for the Government to proceed further on employees’ issue.
The well attended meeting also decided to devise future strategy after meeting with the Government and putting forth their suggestion on how to deal with the situation regarding migrant employees and their other concerns in view of the prevailing situation in Kashmir valley.
It was decided that if the Government continues to ignore their plight the option of going on Fast-Unto-death will remain open for them.
It was also discussed that some of the employees are still waiting for their pending salaries since July last year while others have not received their salaries in spite of the fact that the holiest festival of Kashmiri Pandits the Mahashivratri was round the corner.

Roshan Lal, Vinod Tiku, Kamal Pandita, Ajay Bhat, Sanjay Koul, Sunil Koul, Anil Pandita, Minakshi, Anita, Govind Vallabh, Vineet, Amardeep and others.
