Anuj bags men’s singles title, Salil- Bandey duo win doubles event

POONCH, Nov 4: 27th District Open Table Tennis Championship, organized by Poonch District Table Tennis Association, under the aegis of J&K Table Tennis Association concluded here today.
MLC Yashpaul Sharma was the chief guest, while SSP Poonch Rajiv Pandey was the guest of honour. Col YK Gautam and Col Atin Tandon were the special invitees.
In men’s singles, Anuj beat Hassan Rizvi by 11-9,9-11,11-6, while in men’s doubles, the duo of Salil Raina and Saleem Bandey drubbed the pair of Sandeep Luthra and Narinder Singh by 11-8,11-7.
Earlier, in Cadets final, Pratham defeated Ridhik by 11-9-12-10, while in Sub Junior finals, Zafar got the better of Vanshik by 9-11,11-5,11-8 and in Junior Anuj trounced Safwan 11-4,11-9.
In girls final, Suhani Bhalla outplayed Vanshika Raina by 11-8,11-7.
Er Saleem Bandey, General Secretary of the Association was present on the occasion.
Col YK Gautam, while speaking on the occasion said that Poonch is blessed with huge talent and youth need to use their energy in sports.
SSP Poonch Rajiv Pandey, while speaking on the occasion said that the association has really done a wonderful job in promoting the game and deserve huge appreciation.
MLC Yash Paul Sharma, said, “I congratulate the Table Tennis Association members for their hard work that spanned over more than two decades. Today, Poonch players are participating in national Table Tennis events”.
While assuring full support to the Association, he announced Rs 25 lakh for Indoor Sports Complex.
Those who were present on the occasion included Ajeet Singh Jeet, president of the Association, Taj Mir, Advocate Mohd Zaman, Imtiaz Bandey, Narinder Mohan Suri, Kuljeet Thakur, Gurmeet Singh Raja, Advocate Iftikar Bazmi, Dr Subash Raina, Prem Parkash Luhta, Nirdosh Kumar,  Sham Singh, Vivek Matto and Narinder Singh.
