Anti-Corruption Bureau booked Sonu Pargal, Then ACR Samba, Raghubir Sharma, Then Naib Tehsildar Ghahgwal and others on Corruption charges

Jammu : Anti-Corruption Bureau registered a formal case vide No.46/2018 u/s 5(1)(d) r/w section 5(2) of J&K P.C Act Svt. 2006 & section 120-B RPC at P/S ACB, Jammu on 28.12.2018 against revenue officers namely Sonu Pargal, then ACR Samba S/O Chaman Lal Gupta R/O 43-A Gandhi Nagar, Jammu,  Raghubir Sharma, then Naib Tehsildar Ghagwal S/O Gian Chand R/O Saidgarh Tehsil Bishnah A/P Kaluchak Jammu & Others. The instant case was registered on the basis of verification conducted pursuant to a written complaint lodged by one Amit Mahajan regarding allegation of corruption done by Sonu Pargal, then ACR Samba during 2015. Verification conducted revealed that Sonu Pargal, then ACR Samba and Raghubir Sharma, then Naib Tehsildar Ghagwal under a well designed plan and abuse of their official positions demanded and accepted the bribe amounting to Rs.1.95 crores and Rs.38.50 lacs respectively from the father of complainant for acquisition of land measuring 495 kanals and 8 ½ marlas falling under Khasra No.376/323, 516, 496, 682/179 of Village Sungawali Tehsil Ghagwal District Samba belonging to complainant and his brother for BSF at enhanced rates of compensation @ 10 lacs per kanal instead of actual cost of Rs.4.80 lacs per Kanal. The acquisition proceedings could not be matured with respect to the land of the complainant and after refusal by the BSF authorities for acquisition, Sonu Pargal, then ACR Samba on repeated requests of the complainant returned the bribe money accepted by him to the complainant. However, Raghubir Sharma, then Naib Tehsildar did not return the bribe money accepted by him. On the prima-facie establishment of allegations, Anti-Corruption Bureau registered a formal case under relevant section of law and also conducted simultaneous raids with the help of local police /magistrates at the residences/office of accused persons in presence of independent witnesses. During the process, all relevant record/suspicious documents which have been recovered from various locations are being seized on spot. Detailed and in-depth scrutiny of the seized record will be carried out during further course of investigation by sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau, Jammu.
