Ansari chairs 18th Board meeting of SBOTE

JAMMU, Dec 18: Minister for Information Technology, Technical Education, Youth Services and Sports, Imran Raza Ansari chaired 18th Board meeting of State Board of Technical Education (SBOTE), here today.
During the meeting, the Minister was informed of the reformative initiatives taken by the Board for making Technical Education Department more vibrant for the students.
It was informed that the Board has established IT cell in SBOTE for in-house result processing, along with introduction of online submission of registration, examination and other related forms. Besides, the Board has introduced centralized SMS facility which will help students to receive the notifications on their mobile phones. It was further informed that the odd-even system of examination has been introduced to give more academic time to the students, besides providing extra classes for students.
The officers apprised the Minister that the Board has established smart class rooms in Polytechnics and other ITIs,  to provide  quality education to the   students in these institutions. It will also help the students to memorize basic concepts of their subjects easily and the Board would also establish Incubation cum Placement centre in the State. The department has developed an online attendance cum academic monitoring and customized billing/payment software for the welfare of student, the officers informed.
Regarding other issues, the Minister was informed  that the department has asked Srinagar Development Authority to provide 6 kanal for construction of board office at Srinagar.
With regard to construction of SBOTE building at Jammu, the Director Technical Education and Principal Government Polytechnic Jammu apprised that department has demarcated the land at Government Polytechnic premises for the same.
To improve the standard of conducting examinations and evaluation process, all the examination centres are to be covered under CCTV surveillance in all the Government and private examination centres, the officers said, adding, the Board has brought modification in norms for the re-evaluation process. For identification of answer sheets and to avail the copy of the answer script, the students can apply for the same.
The Minister was briefed about the transfer policy of the department. In this regard, the Minister said that they should be done only after the approval of the Chairman and can be made only in accordance with recommendations of Secretary J&K SBOTE.
