Another taxi hijacked at Vijaypur

SAMBA, Apr 17: Another private taxi was hijacked today by some unidentified persons near 17 Miles Hotel in Vijaypur. The incident has sent shock waves among the taxi operators as it is the second such act in last three days.
According to Police a taxi bearing registration number JK02F 3243 was hijacked by two unidentified persons this evening. A report filed by Syed Ahmed S/o Syed Ghulam Mohammed of Kokernag in Anantnag tehsil of Kashmir valley at Vijaypur Police Station said that two people came to him at Jammu asking him that they needed a taxi for Kashmir. The driver agreed but the duo said that they have to board another passenger at Vijaypur near 17 Miles.
The driver along with his accomplice Parvez Ahmed Bhat took the two passengers and left for Vijaypur while reaching near Hotel 17 Miles they asked the accomplice of driver to have tea till they return with another passenger and the two persons took the taxi to some isolated place where they thrashed him and also decamped with Rs 2500 from his pocket and fled with taxi.
Later the driver reported the matter to his accomplice and both made a complaint in PS Vijaypur. However police has not received any clue about the same but it is investigating the matter. Police suspects it an act of drug mafia.
It may be recalled that three days back in the similar incident a taxi was hijacked from Jammu and the driver was asked to accompany them to Swankha more to board another passenger and later the driver was thrashed and taxi hijacked by the unknown persons. However the police recovered the taxi next day.
