JAMMU, Nov 25: Ved Prakash Goswami, Retd IA&AS officer and father of former Union Home Secretary, Anil Goswami, passed away here today after a brief illness.
He was 92. The cremation was held at Shastri Nagar cremation ground later this afternoon. Prominent people, including Dr Farooq Abdullah, Devender Rana, Div Com Jammu Dr Mandeep Bhandari, IGP Jammu, DC Jammu, former DGP M M Khajooria. Parvez Dewan and others attended the funeral and paid their last respect to the departed soul.
During his service to the Government of India, Ved Parkash Goswami had served as Chairman Airport Authority of India, Accountant General UP, Finance Secretary J&K and other important positions.
He is survived by his wife Pushpa Devi, three sons namely Vinod Goswami (ex- Chief Engineer), Promod Goswami (DGM Central Warehousing Corporation) and Anil Goswami (Ex- Union Home Secretary)
Born on November 14, 1925 at border village Londi in Kathua district, Ved Prakash Goswami did his schooling from HS Samba and then Post-Graduation from Punjab University Lahore. He joined IA&AS in 1959.
Meanwhile Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Governor N N Vohra have condoled the sad demise of Ved Prakash Goswami. In their separate messages to Anil Goswami, the CM and Governor have prayed to the Almighty for granting peace to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family to bear the unfortunate loss.
