Angry relatives resort to ransacking as pregnant woman dies in hospital

RAJOURI, Feb 17: Following death of a pregnant woman due to purported non-availability of doctors and medical facility in District Hospital Rajouri this evening,  angry relatives of the deceased ransacked hospital and held a strong protest demonstration.
The protesting people smashed window panes of the emergency ward and ransacked the Operation Theatre  while the hospital staff fled from the spot to save themselves from the wrath of angry mob.
Even as Police and District administration had reached the spot, the situation was stated to be tense with agitating people insisting for immediate suspension of the erring doctors.
The trouble erupted when a young pregnant woman, identified as Shazia Kousar (23), wife of Mohd Ahsan Mirza of Badoon, Rajouri, died after half an hour of her admission in the hospital around 8 pm.  The family members and relatives of the deceased alleged that the woman died because of non-availability of doctor and medical care in the hospital.
The angry relatives soon turned violent and resorted to ransacking of the hospital. They smashed window panes of the emergency ward and ransacked the Operation Theatre. Soon the situation turned so volatile that the entire hospital staff fled from the spot to avoid wrath of the agitating mob.
After getting information, SHO Rajouri Ajay Chib  and Additional DC Mumtaz Ahmad rushed to the spot and tried to pacify the mob, who kept insisting for immediate suspension of the erring doctors.
Till last reports came in, the situation was tense but under control. Attendants  of other patients admitted in the hospital also alleged non-availability of doctors and medical care in DH Rajouri.
