JAMMU, Jan 11: A large number of Anganwari workers and helpers under the banner of Anganwari Workers Welfare Association (AWWA) held sit-in protest near Press Club, Jammu as part of their nation-wide agitation in the country in support of their demands.
The workers opposed the State Government Order No 268 dated 28-8-2017 against retirement without retirement benefits. They also raised demands of enhancement of salary of Anganwari workers upto Rs 5000 per month and Rs 10000 per month for helpers and social security benefits like EPF, ESI and pension scheme
The protesting employees also demanded that fuel charges and payment of TA, DA be increased. They also stressed for 100% promotion as supervisor as per proper seniority list and supply of good nutrition quarterly, as it has not been supplied for the last two years. The employees also demanded that they be declared as Government employees.

Subash Verma, president of Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh Jammu Kashmir, senior leader Lakshman Ravinder Singh, Ashok Choudhary (general secretary) and Swarna Choudhary president and Neelam Sharma general Secretary of AWWA addressed the employees  and appealed the authorities to fulfilled their demands.
