Anganwari workers, helpers threaten to boycott poll duties

Srinagar, Mar 11: Scores of Anganwari workers and helpers today staged a protest at Anantnag Town of South Kashmir and threatened to boycott poll-duties for upcoming by-elections if Government doesn’t fulfill their demands including release of withheld salaries and regularization.
The female Anganwari workers and helpers of South Kashmir today assembled in the premises of Deputy Commissioner (DC) office Anantnag and shouted slogans against State Government and in favour of their demands. The demands of the protesters include release of withheld salaries, salary hike and regularization while they opposed any kind of privatization of Anganwari centres.
The protesting workers and helpers said that they have been working tirelessly in Anganwaris but their salaries have been withheld and aren’t being paid on time. They also demanded regularization and warned if their demands are not met before by-elections they will boycott all kinds of poll-duties. The protest meanwhile ended on peaceful note.
