SRINAGAR, Nov 9: Dozens of Anganwadi representatives from all districts of Kashmir province today staged protests against the Government for their failure for enhancement of salary, status of Government employees, promotion of senior Anganwadi workers to supervisors and grant of SRO 144 in case of death of employee.
Holding placards in their hands they raised slogans like ‘we demand dignity and better service conditions’ here at Sher-e-Kashmir Park.
“We demand enhancement of salary to Rs 10,000 per month for Anganwadi workers and Rs 8000 to helpers,” said Mymoona Nazk, President Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Association, Kashmir Province.
Terming the Government’s casual attitude towards these employees as exploitation of human resources and violation of labour laws, the protesters said they can’t tolerate it in future and threatened to go for hunger strike cum mass ‘dharna’ if the Government fails to fulfil their genuine demands.
The employees also demanded that retirement benefits be given to them in the form of pension and Rs three lakh to Anganwadi and Rs two Lakh to helper at the time of their retirement.
