Anganwadi workers to go on strike from July 1

JAMMU, June 11: Anganwadi workers and helpers of ICDS projects of Jammu region have given ultimatum to the higher authorities to address their pending issues otherwise, they would go on strike from July 1.
In an emergency meeting of the Anganwadi Workers Welfare Association held here today under the leadership of Swarna Choudhary, president of the Association, the members unanimously resolved to launch agitation from July 1, if the Government fails to resolve their pending issues. They said that several time memoranda were submitted to the Government and also protest dharnas were held but the senior officers failed to solve their problems.
They demanded enhancement of their remuneration/ wages at par with Haryana State, 100% promotions of Anganwadi workers to the post of supervisors and convening of monthly meeting of workers by all CDPO for the smooth functioning of centres. The workers condemned the delaying tactics of the Government is solving their issues. They said if their problems were not solved with in next 15 days, they would launch indefinite agitation from July 1.
Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh leaders Subash Verma and Ashok Choudhary were also present in the meeting besides other office bearers of the Association including Neelam Sharma, Sushma Devi, Anju, Soma Devi and Vijay Lakshmi.
