Anbu visits LoC in Kupwara

SRINAGAR, Jan 3: Compl-imenting the troops for their high standard of professionalism and dedication, Army Commander Northern  Command Lt General D Anbu today visited the forward areas near the Line of Control (LoC) in the frontier district of Kupwara.
Defence sources said that Lt Gen Anbu directed troops to be extra vigilant to foil any attempt by the militants, waiting in launch pads, near LoC in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) to sneak into this side, as there was very less snow this time, on the higher reaches.
They said the Army Commander was given a detailed brief about the overall situation on the LoC. He was also informed about the infiltration attempts by militants, which were foiled by the alert troops. He was informed that there will be no lower of guard, despite difficult terrain, harsh winter and heavy snowfall. Lt Gen Anbu was also informed about the use of latest technology to keep a close vigil on the LoC, besides intensifying foot and night patrolling.
The Army Commander lauded the troops for their high level of morale and vigil and exhorted them to continue to work with zeal and dedication to overcome the challenges posed by the weather and the enemy.
Sources said Lt Gen Anbu also visited the hinterland formations at Sharifabad in the city outskirts and Awantipora in South Kashmir district of Pulwama, where five CRPF personnel were killed in a fidayeen attack on their camp on Sunday.  Three Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) fidayeen were also killed in the encounter. Lt Gen Anbu was given a first hand account of the ground situation in the Valley.
Meanwhile, the Northern Command in a tweet said ”#ArmyCdrNC reviewed security situation & Operational preparedness in forward areas in #Kupwara Sector ; Interacted with troops & exhorted them to be vigilant while complimenting their high standards of professionalism and dedication”.
