AMCA , Durga Nagar Committee delegations call on Vyas

JAMMU, Aug 3: All Migrant Contractors Association (AMCA) delegation called on Advisor to Governor B B Vyas here and apprised him of the problems being faced by the migrant contractors.
The delegation was led by Desh Rattan Pandita president of the Association and its secretary, S K Koul.
The delegation demanded that small works amounting to Rs 10 lakh be reserved for the Kashmiri migrants in the Relief Organization or 50 percent of works be reserved for them in other organizations on the basis of self help group as migrant contractors are not in a position to compete with others.
The delegation expressed the hope that the Government will look into the problem and provide directives to concerned authorities to accept the demand by reserving works amounting to Rs 10 lakh for the migrant contractors so that they too can earn their livelihood.
Meanwhile, another delegation of Durga Nagar Welfare Committee led by Roshan La Raina its president also called on B B Vyas and presented a memorandum to him demanding that the Kashmiri migrants residing in Ward No 57,58, 59,60,61, 62, 63, 64, 65 and 67 be included in the voter lists so that they can cast the vote in the Jammu Municipal Corporation elections and seek benefits of development of their respective areas.
The delegation expressed concern over deletion of the names of the migrants from the voter lists of Corporation by vested interests and termed it the murder of democracy as the migrants have been living in these wards for last 28 years now.
The delegation informed the Advisor that Governor N N Vohra has already sent a letter to Chief Electoral Officer asking him incorporating the names of the migrants in voter lists. The Divisional Commissioner Jammu was also given instructions by the Governor for taking appropriate action in the matter.
The delegation also highlighted other problems of the area before the Advisor which included non availability of matador facilities in Durga Nagar area.
Another delegation of Migrant Technician-III led by Vinod Pandit chairman All Parties Migrant Coordination Committee (APMCC) met B B Vyas .
The delegation showed concern relating to recent orders of detachment and demanded that the nature of the adjustment of migrants is different from that of usual attachments. As such the migrants’ case may be kept out of purview of the recent orders of detachment.
The advisor assured the delegation that their grievances will be redressed shortly. The delegation was comprising of Vijay Raina, Satish Kichloo, Sanjay Sharma and Sunil Kumar.
