JAMMU, Aug 9: General Secretary, All India Congress Committee (AICC) Ambika Soni and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad visited SMGS Hospital and inquired about the health of PYC general secretary RS Pathania, who is undergoing treatment after murderous attack on him at Paldai, Ramnagar.
Both the leaders had to face a tough time while pacifying supporters and family members of Pathania who were aghast over least support from Congress Ministers as well as State Government. Rather, they were much critical about the conduct and misdemeanors of Police for registering case of a ‘simple hurt’ under Section 323 of RPC in a case where a senior party functionary-cum-advocate was chased, intercepted, hit with lethal weapons on vital parts causing grievous injuries including major nasal bone-fracture in pursuance to a persistent enmity, and secondly, bailing out the criminals from the Police Station itself.
They also expressed concern as to why a case of ‘criminal conspiracy against MLA Ramnagar Harshdev Singh at whose express instance the attack was carried out, was not registered. They said that attack on Pathania was a pre-conceived and well-conspired with a clear-cut attempt on his life. And had it been that some passer-byes did not intervene, consequences would have been graver.
The visiting dignitaries expressed concern about the entire issue and assured the agitated people from Ramnagar that they shall project/communicate the matter upto requisite quarters within the State Government. They further assured to do full justice in the said case and also issued directions to SMGS authorities for proper and efficacious treatment of Pathania.
Dr Akhil Gupta, President, PG Doctors Association, GMC Jammu, also met Pathania and condemned the incident.
