SRINAGAR, Oct 4: Senior National Conference leader and MLA Kangan Mian Altaf has sought immediate roll back of the orders regarding the ban on the extraction of minerals from streams and nallahs in Ganderbal district.
In a statement issued here today, Altaf said that the administration intends to auction out the extraction of minerals to a contractor at several places, adding that it would render hundreds of the people associated with it workless.
He said that labourers from different areas of Kangan and Ganderbal are wholly dependent on the extraction of mineral from different places and if government didn’t revoke the order their families would face starvation.
“The Government should roll back orders regarding the auctioning as this would render hundreds of labourers jobless and will threaten their livelihood,” the statement added.
The NC leader said that the labourers are forced to take to streets to protest the ban orders and urged the administration to look into the issue and revoke the orders as soon as possible to prevent any law and order situation.
