Allocate sufficient funds for Gujjar-Bakerwal community: Hakla

POONCH, Jan 1: Prominent Gujjar leader Shamsher Hakla Poonchi has appealed to Chief Minister and Finance Minister to allocate sufficient funds for the welfare and upliftment of Gujjar and Bakerwal community in the financial budget of 2017.
In a statement issued, Poonchi said that Gujjar and Bakerwal community of J&K mostly resides in hilly, far flung and mountainous areas near forest and on the LoC of the Indo-Pak, adding that there areas lack facilities like road connectivity, electricity and water supply, medical and educational facilities which put them in lots of hardships and troubles.
The needs and the problems of Gujjar and Bakerwal community are quite different from other communities of J&K, he said, adding that language and culture of this community is different and as such the community has a distinct identity.
He said that Gujjar and Bakarwal community of J&K is socially, educationally, economically and politically backward and there is dire need to allocate sufficient funds for them in the financial budget of J&K.
