GANDERBAL, Nov 30: Advisor to Governor, Kewal Kumar Sharma today directed the PDD officials to ensure completion of vital Alasteng Grid Station by December ending this year which would go a long way in strengthening the power scenario in the Valley.
The Advisor issued these instructions during his visit to the under-construction grid station at Ganderbal to review the status of ongoing work.
The Grid station is being constructed at the cost of around Rs 109 crore and so far around Rs 81 crore has been spent on its construction.
The Advisor directed the officials to complete the remaining work within the stipulated timeframe so that people in the State could benefit from it.
During the visit, the Advisor also reviewed the progress of 220 KV Zainakote-Alasteng transmission line. He was informed that section-1 of the transmission line would be completed by February 2019. The estimated cost of the entire line is Rs 125 crore.
Commissioner Secretary PDD Hirdesh Kumar, Development Commissioner Power, Chief Engineer EM&RE, Chief Engineer S&O, and Chief Engineer Projects along with other concerned officers were accompanying the Advisor.
Meanwhile, Advisor Sharma convened public outreach programme where he met several public delegations and individuals who apprised him with their issues and demands.
Several deputations from Dal area sought the Advisor’s intervention so that they could be provided with compensation for the damage caused by the 2014 floods. The delegation also sought Advisor’s intervention for the rehabilitation of Dal dwellers and demanding that instead of RakhArth the dwellers should be shifted to Chandpora, Harwan.
Parents of Dental Surgeons also called on the Advisor and demanded the creation of posts for unemployed Dental Surgeons in the State. Stressing for strengthening the health care facilities across the State, the Advisor directed the Health and Finance Department for submitting a report regarding the creation of posts for Dental Surgeons.
A delegation of All Ladakh Residents Welfare Society Srinagar demanded land for the graveyard in the Srinagar city as carrying bodies to Ladakh creates a lot of inconvenience for them, particularly during winters.
A delegation of Contractors Association of PDD demanded the release of pending payments of works done under APDRP for the year 2011-12.
A delegation of Traders Union of Ganderbal demanded road widening in the area and posting of paramedical staff and MRI machine in the district hospital.
Several delegations of Transporters Association Western Bus Stand, KMD and Sumo Stand called on the Advisor. They were demanding to direct the concerned departments to release their payments for using their transportation services.
