Akhnoor Tigers, Musa Club outplay opponents, register berth in next round

JAMMU, Dec 6: Akhnoor Tigers and Musa Football Club outplayed their opponents in their respective matches and advanced to the next round of the ongoing 4th Sher-e-Kashmir Gold Cup Football Championship, being organised by Youth National Conference under the aegis of J&K Football Association (JKFA) at Government Gandhi Memorial (GGM) Science College football ground here today.
In the first match of the day, Akhnoor Tigers crushed Hero Club by 5-1 goals and entered into next round of the championship.
In the first half, players of both the teams tried their level best to net the goal and raise the score card but failed and the first half ended with ‘no goal’.
In the second half, Jagmitter of Hero Club netted the goal in the 45th minute and raised the scorecard to 1-0 goal.
In the 50th minute, Mohit of Akhnoor Tigers scored the goal and equalized the game.
Prince of Akhnoor Tigers with his commendable footwork netted the goal in the 52nd minute and raised the scorecard to 2-1 goals.
As the players of Hero Club were just thinking to equalize the game, in the mean time Prince again bounced back in the 59th minute and netted the goal.
Just after three minutes, Sandeep of Akhnoor Tigers scored the goal, raised the scorecard to 4-1 goals and brought the opponent Hero Club team players under extreme pressure.
After finding a loop hole, enthusiastic Prince netted the goal in the 66th minute and changed the reading of the scoreboard to 5-1.
Players of Hero Club strived hard to win the match, but all their attempts were shattered by the aggressive players of Akhnoor Tigers.
The Hero Club players, who were looking dominated in the last five minutes of the game lost the match by 5-1 goals and paved way for Akhnoor Tigers to register berth into the next round of the championship.
In the second match of the day, Musa Football Club outclassed Jammu Sports by a solitary goal and advanced to the next stage of the tournament.
In the first half, none of the players of both the teams succeeded to net the goal and the first half ended with 0-0.
In the second half, Vivek Dogra of Musa Club scored the goal in the 45th minute, which the players of Jammu Sports failed to equalize till last minute of the game and thus lost the match by 1-0 goal.
In tomorrow fixtures, DFA Samba will take on Young Rovers and DFA Kathua will clash with Churchill Brothers.
