SRINAGAR, Feb 8: Starting its campaign from Sopore, the apple town of Kashmir, All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference (AJKPC) has urged the Kashmir youth in particular to participate in the coming Panchayat and other local body elections with a mission to shunt out the corrupt mafia from the system.
In a day-long convention of Panchayat of AJKPC held today at Sopore, which was attended by a large number of former Sarpanchs and Panchs, the Panchayat Conference leaders said that the present mainstream political parties don’t want intelligent and honest people in the system and they deliberately encourage the boycott policy of some people to pave the way for their mafia to control such institutions.
Speaking on the occasion, chairman, AJKPC, Shafiq Mir, said that the so called mainstream political parties never want maximum participation of the people in the election process because of the fear that in such situation they cannot win the elections.
Mir said that due to the election boycott policy prevailing in Kashmir valley, a “Mafia”  and criminal type people have captured whole of the system and all the miseries the people of the Kashmir were facing this time it is only due to this criminal and corrupt mafia which is present at each level in the system.
Asking the Kashmir youth in particular and intellectual and honest class of the society in general to take part in the coming Panchayat elections at each level and plug in all the holes for the criminal mafia to enter in the system, Mir said Panchayat elections are just non political and just for the sake of local development. “Until and unless we shun the policy of boycott we can never stop this Mafia to become our rulers at each level” said Mir adding that the people who do not take part in this process have no right to complain about the abuses and injustice they get later.
