AJKLTF organizes teachers’ conference

KISHTWAR, Apr 23: All Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh Teachers’ Federation (AJKLTF) organized a one-day teachers’ conference here today, where the delegates flayed the State Government for its indifferent attitude against the teacher community in the State.
Dev Raj Thakur, State president, AJKLTF, inaugurated the conference. In the day-long session, speakers spoke on the present education scenario and the service conditions of the teaching community. The conference adopted several resolutions, which include transparent transfer policy, streamlining the salary of the teachers working under SSA/RAMS, remove pay anomalies, etc.
In his address, Dev Raj Thakur said, “The motive of the conference was to bring thinkers, teachers
and educationists on a common platform to deliberate upon different challenges that stand in the way of effective implementation of the education policy and to think of ways and means to strengthen the system as a whole, thereby improving the quality education at different levels in J&K”
Thakur demanded a transparent/rational transfer policy should be framed and implemented transparently to make the system work efficiently. He further asserted for making fresh DPC in the department on regular basis which is not done in Jammu division since 2014 and fill all these vacant posts in the State without further delay and provisions should be made for PG Teachers/Masters to promote them as lecturers on time bound basis of their services and abolish “additional charges culture” in the department in the interest of the teaching as well as student community in the State.
He also emphasized creation of additional post of chief education officer in all the districts for smooth functioning of the department, besides stressing on filling all the vacant posts of masters/lecturers/principles/ Zonal Education Officers/ Chief Education Officers in the State.
Rattan Sharma, State general secretary in his address stressed on the quality of education and for this he asked the teacher community to perform their role honestly. He said that there is need to incorporate and sustain changes in the curriculum and implement evidence-based pedagogies into the teaching learning process.
