AJHLA discusses sewerage mgmt with JMC Commissioner

JAMMU, Feb 6: A deputation of All Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association (AJHLA) under the leadership of its president, Inderjeet Khajuria, called upon Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Mandeep Kour, in her office chamber to discuss improvement in management of sewerage and waste disposal from Hotels and Lodges establishment situated in Old City Jammu.
Commissioner, while expressing her concern for unprofessional dumping of waste by some establishments, stressed the need for installation of modern wastage disposal technique to ensure better hygienic facilities in city.
Khajuria ensured that all members of the association are responsible citizens and have equal concern for protection and maintenance of environment and are taking all appropriate measures to properly dispose off the sewerage and organic waste from their establishments.
He said that in order to further improve the system of waste disposal AJHLA welcomes all the suggestions and guidelines from JMC. Khajuria expressed his concern for delay in commissioning of Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) being constructed by NBCC from the State Government, which is going to connect all residential and commercial areas of Old Jammu City. He requested Commissioner, JMC to take up the matter at appropriate level of administration to speed up the commissioning of this project.
During the meeting it came into light that NBCC is delaying the commissioning of Rs 130 crore STP project for want of pending amount of Rs 20 crore since long, thus depriving old Jammu City of the facility of a modern STP.
Khajuria invited Commissioner JMC for an interaction with members of AJHLA for better understanding and orientation programme on improvements and modes of sewerage and waste disposal for ensuring better cleanliness and hygienic in city of temples.
The deputation comprised of prominent members including Pawan Gupta, Pritam Sharma, HS Manhas, Suresh Gupta, Varinder Kumar and Rajesh Gupta.
