Airtel set to launch 4G services across J&K

JAMMU, Feb 7: Bharti Airtel (“Airtel”), India’s largest telecommunications services provider, today said that customers can upgrade their existing 2G/3G SIMs with 4G ready USIMs completely free of cost at Airtel retail outlets in over 70 towns and locations across Jammu & Kashmir.
Airtel is the largest mobile operator in J&K with 3.47 million* customers and offers 3G and 2G services in the State and plans to launch 4G services here soon. With the USIM upgrade, customers can continue enjoying their existing 2G/3G services and can avail upto 10GB of free 3G data by calling 52122 while staying ready to experience Airtel 4G from the day of its launch on their 4G enabled phones. Airtel 4G will allow customers to enjoy uninterrupted HD video streaming, superfast uploading and downloading of movies, music and images.
The USIM upgrade is available in the towns and locations like Jammu, Nagrota, Kishtwar, Katra, Kathua, Udhampur,  R S Pura,  Doda, Nowshera, Poonch, Samba, Rajouri, Reasi, Thanamandi, Talwara, Surankote, Sunderbani, Rehambal, Ramban, Ram Nagar, Raipur Domana, Nowshehra, Ghomanhasan, Chenani, Billawar, Bhaderwah, Batote, Bashohli, Bari Brahamana, Banihal, Akhnoor, Vijaypur,  Yari Pora, Srinagar, Sopore, Shupiyan, Pulwama, Pattan, Pampore, Pahalgam, Kupwara, Baramula, Bandipore, Badgam, Anantnag, Handwara, Uri, Tral, Trehgam, Sumbal, Seer Hamdan, Safa Pora, Mattan , Kunzer , Kulgam, Khrew, Ganderbal , Duru Verinag , Drug Mulla, Chadura, Bijbehara, Beerwah, Awantipora, Achhabal,  Vaishno Devi Bhavan, Hazratbal and Pahalgam.
Speaking on the occasion, Raveendra Desai, Chief Operating Officer – J&K, Bharti Airtel said, “We are inviting data savvy customers to be 4G ready with a simple upgrade to an Airtel USIM. We look forward to serving them with world-class services on India’s widest 4G network.”
As part of Project Leap, Airtel has been deploying state-of-the-art technology solutions for better indoor coverage and network optimization; overhauling legacy networks with new equipment and making investments in additional spectrum and fiber to significantly improving its network capabilities across the country since last year. Airtel was also the first operator in the country to deploy ‘Carrier Aggregation’ technology that combines capacities of spectrum in 2300 MHz (TD-LTE) and 1800 MHz (FD-LTE) and delivers data speeds on up to 135 Mbps with compatible handsets.
