Air traffic resumes at Srinagar airport

SRINAGAR: The air traffic at Srinagar Airport resumed today, a day after flights were cancelled due to poor visibility.

“Flight operations were normal at the airport today as the visibility improved,” Director, Airport Authority of India (AAI), Srinagar, Sharad Kumar said.

He said the visibility at the airport was above the required 1.3 km.

“There was visibility of around 2.5 km, so all flight operations took place normally,” the official said.

Kumar, however, said there was delay in the arrival of some of the flights because of the fog situation at Delhi airport.

“There was no delay on our part,” he said.

The air traffic at the airport was disrupted yesterday due to poor visibility. Only four flights landed at the airport yesterday and the rest all were cancelled.

The flight operations remained affected over the last two weeks as a thick layer of fog engulfed many parts of Kashmir, including the summer capital here. (AGENCIES)
