Ahead of R-Day, hideout busted in Kishtwar

JAMMU: Security forces today busted a terrorist hideout and recovered cache of arms and ammunition ahead of Republic Day celebrations in Kishtwar district.

”Army in a joint operation with J&K Police busted a militant hideout in Chhatru area of Kishtwar district and seized a huge cache of arms, ammunition and war like stores ahead of Republic Day celebrations,” a defence spokesman here said.

He said that based on specific intelligence input, Army launched a joint operation in Hilnar area of Chhatru tehsil.

The team came upon a suspicious natural cave, whereupon, on further probing and digging, forces recovered one AK-47, one Pistol with Magazine (Chinese), one Under Barrel Grenade Launcher, seven Grenades of Under Barrel Grenade Launcher, two Chinese Hand Grenades, three AK-47 Magazines, 428 rounds of 7.62mm AK-47 and two Kenwood Radio Sets (Transistor TH 28A 144MH).

This recovery of warlike stores and destruction of the hideout close to 26 January in the sensitive area of Chhatru has delivered a decisive blow to the nefarious designs of terrorists attempting to disrupt peace in the region, he added. (AGENCIES)
