JAMMU, Feb 22: Agriculture employees held a strong protest demonstration in support of their demand of posting technical officer as Director Agriculture, Jammu.
A large number of employees of the department under the banner of Agriculture Employees Coordination Committee (AECC), led by its chairman, Pardeep Kumar Sharma assembled in front of the office of Director Agriculture, Talab Tillo Complex in Jammu in the morning and started protest demonstration. They were resenting the Govt order No. 184-GAD of 2019, dated 07-02-2019, whereby non-technical Director has been posted as Director Agriculture Jammu instead of technical one from amongst the senior Agriculture Gazetted Services officers.
While addressing the gathering, Pardeep Sharma disclosed that Department of Agriculture/ Farm Sector/ Agriculture Institutions are the living entities which are working for the sustainable production of food grains, vegetables etc. and cater to the need of human beings. It is not concrete body, you construct, use and forget.
He said recent order No. 184-GAD, regarding the posting of non-technical Director reveals the casual approach of the of the Government towards the Farm sector and violation of the recommendation of the sub-group of Agri-Development. This Department should be structured as a technical department and to be manned and headed by competent technical experts.
He sought the intervention of Governor Satya Pal Malik, Advisor K Skandan and Chief Secretary into the matter. AECC also warned to launch indefinite agitation if their genuine and justified demand was ignored by the Govt.
