JAMMU, Mar 24:  On 39th day of their ongoing hunger strike, agitating Contractual Lecturers today blocked  the road near Dogra Chowk  and disrupted vehicular movement thus forcing the Police to use mild force and take a few agitators into preventive custody.
Amidst shouting of slogans in support of their demand  of regularization, the agitating Contractual Lecturers came out of  the Exhibition Ground premises and held a demonstration.  During the protest demonstration, some of the male and female agitators laid down on the road and blocked the vehicular movement.
Sensing trouble, Police intervened and lifted the agitators, a few of whom   were taken into preventive custody.
The agitating Contractual Lecturers are demanding their regularization as per the Civil Services Special Provision act 2010, a policy framed for the regularization of all the Ad-hoc/ Contractual/Consolidate employees after rendering seven years of services.
One of Contractual Lecturer Seema Rajput, is on fast unto death since March 2  and her condition is deteriorated day by day. Kanchan Bala, Saroj Bala,  Amrit Paul and Vijay Kumar were  on chain hunger strike today.
However, the Education Minister Altaf Bukhari today ruled out considering the demand of agitating Contractual Lecturers and said that they were engaged purely for particular academic sessions on contractual basis.
