JAMMU, May 19: On 95th consecutive day of their ongoing hunger strike, Contractual Lecturers (10+2) today held a strong protest demonstration blindfolded amidst beating of drums.
The blindfolded protesting Contractual Lecturers beat drums in order to show resentment against the State Government, which they claimed, has turned a blind eye and deaf ear towards their demands and grievances.
These Contractual Lecturers have been demanding for their regularization as per the Civil Services Special Provision Act 2010, a policy framed for the regularization of all the Ad-hoc/ Contractual/Consolidated employees after rendering seven years of services.
While addressing the gathering, Arun Bakshi, president of Contractual Lecturers (10+2) Association, Balvinder Kour and Jeevan Kumar, highlighted the plights of Contractual Lecturers, who have been protesting in open for the last 96 days.  “We are beating drums to awaken this Government from deep slumber,” they said and vowed to continue the agitation and ongoing chain hunger strike till their cases are settled.
Arun Bakshi said that Government should avoid its apathetic attitude towards the Contractual Lecturers and adopt sympathetic way to settle the problem of the highly educated youth who are on hunger strike since 14th Feb. 2017.
