Advisor Sharma seeks utilization of pensioners’ expertise for welfare of society

JAMMU, Dec 17: Advisor to Governor, Kewal Kumar Sharma today called for utilizing the valuable wisdom, lifelong experiences and acquired expertise of pensioners to serve the best interest of the society.
The Advisor was addressing the 36th National Pensioners’ Day function organized by the Central Government Pensioners’ Welfare Association (CGPWA), Jammu which has over 335 members representing 34 Central Government Department/Ministries including All India Services viz. IAS, IPS and IFS, at Jammu Club here today.
Complimenting the Pensioners’ Association for taking public spirited initiatives for the welfare of the society, interests of the pensioners and senior citizens, the Advisor suggested that the Association having a repository of collective wisdom and vast experience should serve as a vital element in the society to advance the interests of the people at large. The Government too should utilize their knowledge, expertise and experiences in certain specialized sectors for better delivery of services, he added.
Responding to the demand for grant of concession to Pensioners, the Advisor asked the president of CGPWA to submit the list of demands for consideration of the Government. The Advisor also interacted with the pensioners and senior citizens present on the occasion.
Earlier, in his welcome address, president, CGPWA, SS Wazir, threw light on various public initiatives that the Association has taken in service to the needy including rendering help in running a School for Deaf and Dumb to provide free vocational and regular education to specially abled children, promotion of drugless therapy- SUJOK, holding of free medical camps etc.
General Secretary, CGPWA, J K Vaid, briefed the gathering on the latest welfare initiatives taken by the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare, New Delhi, besides new initiatives by Government of India, including introduction of digital mode of transparent transactions.
K B Jandial briefly spoke on the establishment of the CGHS Wellness Centre at Jammu and latest developments relating to empanellment of SMVD Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Kakryal and recent approval of cashless treatment facility.
The function concluded with vote of thanks given by vice president of the CGPWA, B K Raina.
