Adieu to Shashi

The nation has given befitting farewell to Shashi Kapoor, the icon of film industry who made his name as a talented actor during the decades of 60s and 70s. The history of Indian film industry is also the history of the House of great Kapoors, whose three generations, beginning with the veteran actor Prithvi Raj Kapoor enriched and embellished the industry that gave India a place in the roll call of honour in the field of art and culture. Shashi Kapoor was given state funeral, a rare honour and recognition that an admiring nation gives to loved ones. Of course the Bollywood will be poorer by his demise. Every great artist has style and the saying goes that style is the man. Shashi Kapoor had his style and millions of admirers. Acting was in his blood whether he acted solo or in combination. A host of Bollywood luminaries, men and women, were present at the site of cremation, and stood their ground under pouring rain.  He had endeared himself to millions of youthful Indians and to some he had become an idol. Daily Excelsior joins the mourners in extending condolence to the bereaved family. May God give peace to his soul and fortitude to his siblings to bear the loss?
