JAMMU, Mar 26: Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Armed, J&K, SM Sahai today lauded the role of Counter Insurgency (CI) squad of Armed Police for displaying exemplary professionalism and valour in neutralising both the fidayeen involved in recent attack on Raj Bagh Police Station in Kathua.
He was addressing a darbar of IRP and 15th battalions here in Jammu.
He said, “I feel proud for being the Chief of J&K Armed Police when my officers and men discharge and perform tedious assignments extra ordinarily.”
The ADGP said that J&K Armed Police has played pivotal role in combating militancy and maintaining law and order in the State. Citing the example of latest meeting of police establishment board, he said that 57 police personnel were promoted out of turn on the basis of their exemplary performance on anti militancy front amongst which 45 belonged to J&K Armed Police.
He said that it is in itself a testimony to the fact that Armed Police has always been at the forefront during testing times. “Be it tackling the decades long militancy in the State, maintenance of law and order or the duties during elections, Shri Amarnathji Yatra, rescuing lives and property of people during natural disasters, Armed Police has always proved its mettle and come up to  expectations,” he added.
Paying tributes to the martyrs who laid down their lives while protecting life and property of people of the State, the ADGP said “I feel proud in saying that J&K Armed Police is blessed with men of substance whose mention will be made in the history of J&K Police in golden words.”
Sahai also took stock of the welfare of Jawans and officers, their living conditions and functioning of the units. He asked the personnel to feel free and comfortable in expressing their grievances and issued onspot orders of redressal for different issues raised by the unit officials.
As a major relief to women police personnel, he said that that they will now be posted in the units located in their home districts.
Among others, the darbar was attended by IGP IR Jammu, Youginder Koul, IGP Armed APHQ, Deepak Kumar, Staff Officer to ADGP Armed, Javaid Iqbal Mattoo, SSP APCR Jammu, Sham Sunder Sharma and Deputy SP Personnel, Liayaqat Qadri.
