JAMMU, May 18:   PYC general secretary,  Pankaj Basotra has asked the State Government to address the genuine demands of the contractual lecturers those are on the road and `dharnas’ for the last three months.
In a statement issued here today,  Basotra said that the contractual Lecturers are demanding their genuine rights because they are serving on contract basis since last so many years after they were selected by the Higher Education Department on merit  and qualified the interview conducted by the Government which is the criteria for an unemployed youth to get the regular Government service .
The PYC leader further expressed his concern over the anti- youth policies of the Government and said that the highly qualified contractual Lecturers in the society are protesting on the road including the females but no one from the Government is bothering to look into their demands.
Basotra alleged that during last days some elected representatives of the people from Jammu province assured the contractual Lecturers to put their genuine demands before the Government but till date they are totally mum and it seems that they made false promises or nobody in the Government is ready to listen them over the issues of Jammu province and even then they are with the alliance for their own interest and enjoying the power only for own families.
He further said that in one side the Government is appointing the Lecturers through PDP influenced Public Service Commission to select their own people and the other, the highly qualified contractual Lecturers are demonstrating on the roads for their regularization which is a shameful on the part of this Government.
He urged upon the civil society of Jammu in particular and the public in general to come forward in support of the contractual Lecturers those are on the road for the last three months.
