Acute shortage of drinking water in hilly areas

KATHUA, June 4: The acute shortage of drinking water in hilly areas of block Bani, block Duggan, block Billawar and Lohai Malhar has hit the normal life and people were forced to consume contaminated water from natural sources which may spread epidemic. The acute shortage of drinking water has forced the people to walk miles together and collect the water which is not worth to drink.
The hilly people have now started the cleanliness of natural resources as they have no other option to get water to meet out their need.  The Ex Minister, Perm Sager Aziz during his visit to far flung villages Sadora, Bhatodi, Banjal, Godu Falal areas said that there are no water supply schemes working in these hilly areas.
There is no filtration plant so far set up to filter the water from natural resources. The supply of rainy and muddy water by PHE Department through broken and leakage pipes may cause water borne diseases. He alleged that Government has not made any arrangement of water supply through tankers or other sources. He said that the Government has totally failed to solve the problems of the people.
He also highlighted the shortage of ration in these areas and appealed the Government to take cognizance of this serious matter concerning the health of common man.
He criticized the administration for stopping the supply of Government ration to such card holder who have not constructed toilets  under Swatch Bharat mission. The poor people are harassed on the name of construction of toilets and were deprived of ration supply which is their fundamental rights. He asked the administration to immediately release the ration of poor people.
