JAMMU, Dec 12:  Birpur Small Scale Industries Association (BSSIA) has alleged acute shortage of electricity supply to the Birpur industrial complex and claimed that industry is suffering badly due to it.
An emergency meeting of the Executive Committee of Birpur Small Scale Industries Association was held today at BSSIA office complex under the chairmanship of  its president, Deepak Dhawan. The main issue under discussion was the power crisis in Birpur industrial complex.
During the meeting, the Association members, highlighted the grave power crisis in Birpur industrial complex. They said there are frequent power cuts/ interruptions during the day time. The entire industry is suffering badly. The PDD authorities are sleeping over the matter despite repeated reminders.
“Ten to twenty minutes cut at least 5-6 times in a day is a routine matter  and sometimes there is a failure of 5-6 hours of power supply. We are all 100% metered units and pay huge tariffs every month. We are paying demand charges for such an irregular power supply. Besides that the machines get damaged putting the unit holders to financial losses to lakhs of rupees,” they added.
The members pointed out that  the expenses on running the DG sets are very high and not affordable for small scale units. The claims of  PDD of  interruption free and 24×7 power supply is not in sight on ground. The infrastructure like conductors and other allied equipments are in a dilapidated condition and not replaced or improved.
They urged upon the DyCM,  Dr Nirmal Singh, who is also Minister Incharge  Power  and  Minister for Industries & Commerce,  Chander Parkash Ganga to intervene in the said matter and save tiny and small scale units from losses.
Prominent among others present in the meeting were  Ankur Jain (senior vice president), Jatin Sachdeva (vice president), Gagan Jain ( Gen Secy), Sharad Malhotra – treasurer,    Romesh Badial, SC Dutta,  Ravnish Gulati, Ajay Gupta, Kirti Khajuria,  Satpal Jain and  Tarun Gupta.
