JAMMU, Sept 1: Residents of holy town of Katra, the base camp of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji shrine, have been witnessing huge water-logging and acute insanitation at various places and have appealed to Municipal and other concerned authorities to keep the town neat and clean as thousands of pilgrims arrive in the town daily.
Residents said water-logging takes place in majority parts of the town due to congestion and encroachments in the Bazaar, which sends wrong message not only to the people but also to the pilgrims, who reach the base camp for onward pilgrimage.
Residents were of the view that it was also responsibility of the administration ensure that if water-logging followed by acute sanitation was prevailing in the holy town, they should take action against the encroachers as well.
They called for permanent solution to the problem as Katra is called the holy town.
