Ace sport climber Shivani selected for Indian team

JAMMU, Apr 13: Ace sport climber of J&K, Shivani Charak has been selected in the Indian team for participation in the Bouldering World Cup- 2017 scheduled to be organized at Navi Mumbai in June, 2017.
She has the distinction of being the only junior climber selected in the 8-member national team comprising 4 men and 4 women.
Shivani has been selected on the basis of her creditable performance in the last National Sport Climbing Championship at Bangalore in which she won 3 silver medals in Lead and Speed Climbing and Bouldering in the Girls category.
Before her participation in the prestigious World Cup, Shivani, the 2015 national champion in speed climbing, will undergo 4 weeks training starting from April 22, 2017 under international coaches at Switzerland, Italy and Slovania.
While, in the first phase of coaching at Slovania, Roman Kranjinik and Katza Vidmar, both international sport climbing coaches, will impart necessary coaching to the trainees.
The Indian team will also participate in a Promotional Cup at Slovania. The team will return to India on May 20, 2017.
Meanwhile, Mountaineering Association of J&K has lauded Shivani for her splendid achievement and assured her all possible help to prepare herself fully for the global competition.
