Accident victim succumbs

JAMMU, Jan 3: A man, who was injured yesterday in a road accident in Mishriwala area of city outskirts, today succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Amritsar.
According to a police spokesperson, a constable of IRP 18 Battaion was seriously injured last evening when a motorcycle on which he was travelling, was hit by an unknown vehicle on Jammu-Akhnoor road at Bathera.
He said that the injured Jawan, who was identified as Zorawar Singh (28) son of Ranjit Singh, resident of Marjali (Kanachak), was first taken to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu but later his family members rushed him to a private hospital in Amritsar, where he succumbed to his injuries today at about 1.30 am.
“Today evening, the dead body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of GMCH Jammu for postmortem”, the spokesman said, adding, Kanachak police had already registered a case in this connection and investigations taken up.
