SRINAGAR, Sept 23: National Conference general secretary and MLA Khanyar,  Ali Mohd  Sagar  organized a free medical camp at Sheikh Colony, Makhdoom Sahib (RA) in Srinagar in association with Chief Medical Officer Srinagar and doctors from JLNM and Gousia Hospitals.
A large number of people visited the free medical camp and were checked by specialist doctors and advised appropriate follow ups.
On this occasion, Sagar said the lesser privileged sections of our society don’t have regular and equal access to preventive healthcare thereby, adversely affecting their median health and welfare. “Such free medical camps are opportunities to spread awareness about growing health issues and also bring hitherto uncovered patients under preventive health procedures and screenings. I am thankful to the doctors who came and conducted the medical camp here today and we will continue with these initiatives in other parts of the constituency”, the NC general secretary said.
“It is the responsibility of the Government to ensure that every citizen, regardless of his caste, creed, religion or economic status, has equal access to quality preventive healthcare. Diseases like diabetes, hypertension and cardiac disorders are on the rise and a lot of difference can be made if patients in high risk categories are regularly screened for health markers and indications. Not only will we be able to save lives but we will also be able to improve the quality of life. This should be one of the top-most priorities of the Government”, Sagar added.
The NC general secretary interacted with the patients and locals and assured them of more such initiatives at regular intervals. The locals thanked the MLA Khanyar for this initiative and highlighted various public issues that the MLA assured would be taken up with the administration.
