Accelerate process of Master Plans preparation: LA Panel

JAMMU, Feb 22: The Committee on Estimates of Legislative Assembly today directed the Housing & Urban Development Department (H&UDD) to accelerate the   process of preparation of Master Plans for the urban centres including capital city of Srinagar.
The Committee which met here under the chairmanship of MLA, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, suggested for formulation of Master Plans for the towns of all districts, the process for which has already been started.
It was stressed upon the concerned to complete the Master Plan formulation for the cities where the process has already been set in motion. The Members said similar plans should also be formulated for other towns of the State for their planned development
Legislators, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori, Jeevan Lal, Daleep Singh Parihar, Mushtaq Ahmed Shah and Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar gave their suggestions to improve the functioning of the department.
The Committee stressed on the concerned authorities to also involve the local legislators and the people while formulating any schemes and plans as they can guide them well in achieving need based development.
Commissioner Secretary, Housing and Urban Development, Hirdesh Kumar Singh briefed the Committee about the programmes and activities being carried out by the department. He also briefed them about the physical and financial status of projects being executed uner the state and centrally sponsored schemes.
He also elaborated about the activities undertaken by the department under Smart Cities Mission, Swachh Bharat Mission, rehabilitation of Dal-Nageen Lake, PMAY-HFA, AMRUT, Housing for all Plan of Action, Deendyal Antyodaya Yojana and National Urban Livelihood Mission (DAY-NULM).
Vice Chairman, Jammu Development Authority, Mubarak Singh, Vice Chairman, Srinagar Development Authority, T Mustafa, Municipal Commissioners Jammu and Srinagar, Director Finance H&UDD, Director ULB Kashmir, Chief Town Planner Kashmir besides senior officers of concerned department and Assembly Secretariat were also present in the meeting.
