Academy’s All India Mushaira revives magic of Urdu poetry

JAMMU, Jan 28:  The magic of Urdu poetry was revived in the city when Urdu poets from all over the country gathered under one roof for the All India Mushaira, organized by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages. The annual event held as part of Republic Day celebrations, the mushaira which lasted for more than four hours regaled the jam-packed audience, was held at Jammu Club, here today.
The poets who recited their poems included leading Udru poets from different parts of the country as well as eminent poet from the state. Senior poet, 89 years old, Gulzar Zutshi Dehlavi presided over while and Abrar Kashib, the young talented poet conducted the mushaira.
The poets who recited their poetry Zubair Rizvi, Muzaffar Hanfi, Rauf Khair, Kishan Kumar Toor, Shahpar Rasool, Farhat Ehass, Zero Bandhvi, Ashok Sahil, Pritpal Singh Betab, Arsh Sehbayee, Shakeel Azmi, Muzaffar Iraj, Haseeb Soz, Rukhsana Jabeen, Fayaz Farooqi, Prem Kumar Ashk, Javed Anwar, Syed Raza, Shahbeeb Rizvi, Ahmad Shinas, Dr Liaqat Jafri, Sardar Panchhi and Atul Ajnabi..
Today’s poetic symposium, where poet’s ‘klams’, like an extension of the real life, reflecting upon the social life and other contemporary issues, was a hit with audience who lustily applauded couplets like Abarar Kashib’s “Hum Ne to Kirdar Ko Kapron Ki Tarah Pahen Rakkha Hai\ Tum To Kapron Ko Kiradar Samajh Bethe Ho’. Fayaz Farooqi, IG Police posted at Bagha border, got appreciation for “Ghar Jo Bharna Ho To Rishvat Se Bhi Bhar Jajta Hai/ Magar Is Se Duaon Ka Asar Jata Hai”.
Atul Punjabi from Gwalior in his take on power of protest in form of candle marches said “Bare Salike, Bari Sadagi Se Kaam Liya/Diay Jala Ke Andhere Se Intqam Liya” or the lines paying homage to greatness of Meer Taki Meer’s Urdu poetry;  “Jab Gazal Mir Ki Padta Hai Padosi Mera/Ik Namin Si Meri Deewar Mein Aa Jati Hai”.
Haseeb Soz, commenting on emerging trend of young men going away from home and hearth in search of livelihood, said; “Kaya Bolein Pardes Se Kaya Laye Hain/ Ghar Se Bachpan Le Gai The, Budhapa Laye Hain”.  Zubair Rizvi’s poem with couplets;” “Umar Bhar Reh Ke Bhi Ehsas Nahin Ho Paaya/ Is Imarat Mein Makaan Kitna Hai, Ghar Kitna Hai”.   Zero Bandhavi , the humour poet was also a hit. Earlier, Khalid Bashir, Secretary, J&K Cultural Academy, well known poet also read his poetry in the Mushaira. Earlier in his address he welcomed the poets and gave a brief description of Academy’s activities.
Today’s poetic symposium was attended by the bevy of Jammu literati, intellectuals and large number young Urdu enthusiasts who immensely enjoyed the thought provoking poetry of some of the leading poets of the country.
