Academy announces awards for Annual Drama Festival

SRINAGAR, May 23: Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Dr Aziz Hajini today announced the Annual Drama Festival awards 2017. Giving details he said that the festival concluded yesterday and the results of the winners were being announced today.
“We have accepted the recommendations of the judges in this behalf,” Hajini disclosed, adding the awards will be given away shortly.
As per details, Xmita Experimental Moving Images and Wahab Memorial Cultural Society bagged the Second Best Production award carrying a cash prize of Rs 12000 each. Pertinently, none was found eligible for the first prize of Rs 15000/.
In the best actor category Ghulam Rasool of Azad Dramatic Club was adjudged as the best actor for his role in Ame Banau Sahab while Rida Akhoon of Xmita has been announced as the winner of best actress award of Rs 5000/- for her role in Fading Memories.
Best Set Design award was announced for Masoom Ramzan for Ame Banau Sahab while Best Light Design award has been bagged by Waseem Raja Khan for Fading Memories. Best Direction award has been announced for Arshad Mushtaq of Xmita for his production Fading Memories.
As for other categories, the awards were announced in Best Make-up award to be given to Mushtaq Ahmad Parray, Best Costumes award to be given to Sagar Sarfaraz, and Best Music award for Javed Ahmad Parrey.
In the category of Consolation prizes, awards have been announced for Yusuf Shahnaz for his role in Fading Memories while Nisbat Bismah has bagged the consolation prize for her role in Ale Gade Malgade.
Certificates of Merit in Acting were also announced for Nazir Ahmad Parrey, Aalisha Aziz, Masoom Ramzan, Mir Ashiq, Sania Mir, and Azan Nisar.
