Academic Council meet of SKUAST-Jammu held

JAMMU, Dec 28: The 18th meet of Academic Council of SKUAST-Jammu was convened at the Main Campus, Chatha under the chairmanship of Prof Pradeep Kumar Sharma, Vice Chancellor of the University.
At the commencement of the meet, Dr Dileep Kachroo, Registrar, SKUAST-J and Member Secretary of the Academic Council of Varsity  welcomed the Chairman and other members and non-member invitees.
The Vice Chancellor, as Chairman of the Academic Committee made a remark that teaching is the primary objective of the University for developing the technically competent manpower. He congratulated all the faculty members for their hard work, dedication and zeal due to which the University won laurels at the national level and rated as 10th rank among all State Agricultural Universities of the country.
He emphasized that University has taken various steps for strengthening teaching, research and extension. Dr Dileep Kachroo, presented the 45 agenda items related to improve the overall academic programme of the universities. In the meeting various important decision have taken such as introduction of various skill development courses along with the guidelines, development programmes, institution of new Ph.D programmes in the disciplines of Agricultural Engineering & Plant Physiology, new Diploma programme in Logistic & Supply chain, five new certificate  courses, institution of SKUAST-Jammu  and Inter-Varsity Rolling Silver Trophy, introduction of best teacher award system, training module for livestock management, introduction of memorial gold medal for PG students in Vegetable Sciences, creation of seats for foreign students in all the doctoral programme of the university. Dr MH Wani, Registrar, SKUAST-Kashmir was the expert member.
Dr TS Ganai, Director Education, Dr JP Sharma, Director Research, Dr Deepak Kher, Director Planning & Monitoring, Dr KS Risam, Director Extension, Dr DP Abrol, Dean, FoA, Dr MMS Zamma, Dean FV.Sc. & AH, Dr S A Mallick, Dean F.B.Sc., Dr RK Arora, Assoc Director Extension, Head of Divisions participated in the meeting.
Vice-Chancellor expressed satisfaction with respect to  improvement in the quality of education in agriculture and allied sciences and emphasized that the improvement in the education system is a dynamic process. He lauded the role of faculty members for  suggesting various measures.
