About dozen illegal dental clinics, labs sealed in Jammu, Banihal

JAMMU, Aug 17: About one dozen illegal/unregistered dental clinics being run by quacks/fake doctors were sealed today in this winter capital of the State and its outskirts while three unregistered diagnostic labs were sealed in Banihal town of Ramban district.
In Jammu, a team of Jammu & Kashmir State Dental Council comprising Dr Bhupinder Singh (Incharge, clinical inspections), Dr Satvinder Singh (Assistant Prof, Dental College, Jammu), Dr Rakesh Raina (Dental Surgeon, DHS Jammu), Dr Surinder (private practitioner) and Dr Rajesh (private practitioner), randomly inspected many dental clinics in Ghumat, Janipur and Bantalab area and found about one dozen clinics being run by quacks that too without any registration.
All the illegal clinics were sealed on the spot. The inspection team was also accompanied members of State Dental Council including Dr Girish Gupta (Deputy Director, Dentistry), Dr Munish Gupta and Dr Ritesh Gupta (Registrar).
The team warned unregistered/unqualified persons who are illegally operating dental clinics to close their clinics at the earliest otherwise the strict action will be initiated against them. It also urged the dentists of the State to get their clinical registration done at the earliest otherwise they will be forced to take action under rules.
Meanwhile, a team of doctors of Health Department comprising Dr Tanveer Ahmed Rather (BMO Banihal) and Dr Shabir Ahmed Dar (Dental Surgeon)under the supervision of Dr Saif-Ud-Din Khan, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Ramban, conducted inspection of various dental clinics and diagnostic laboratories.
During the course of inspection, three diagnostic labs namely Hi Tech Lab, Digno Lab and Bismillah Pharmacy Collection Center were sealed as they were found being operated without registration/authorization.
The inspection team also directed all doctors practicing in clinical establishments at various medical shops to produce the photocopy of their degrees as well as registration certificates within three days positively, failing which action under norms will be initiated against defaulters.
