Abdul Gani lifts Bhaderwah Kesari dangal title

KATRA, June 29: Wrestler Abdul Gani of Bhalessa (Bhadarwah) at present Mallerkotla in Punjab lifted the 2nd Annual Bhadarwah Kesari Dangal title 2012, organized by Bhadarwah Development Authority and J&K Tourism Department, under the aegis of J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association at Government Degree College ground, here.
In all, 27 bouts were played wherein local wrestlers drawn from Doda, Bhalessa, Bhadarwah, Sarore, Sungli, Thanalla, Gatha, Kishtwar, Jammu, Udhampur, Reasi, Domana, Bishnah, Katra besides wrestlers from Khanna, Mallerkotla, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Haryana, Banaras, Delhi, Rajasthan, Amritsar, Rohtak, sirsa, Dera Baba Nanak and Jalandhar participated.
The event was the main attraction in the ongoing 4 days long Bhadarwah Tourism-Cum- Cultural festival.
Chief Executive Officer Bhadarwah Development Authority, Kalyan Singh Parihar was the chief guest, who distributed prizes among the wrestlers on the occasion.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Shiv Kumar Sharma, President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Roshan Lal, Secretary General Indian Style Wrestling Association of India, Yash Paul Bakshi, Roop Lal Bhagat, R Sharma and Surinder Rao.
The first main bout was fought between wrestler Gani of Mallerkotla and wrestler Kamaljot of Khanna. Gani won the bout and was awarded with cash prize money of Rs 15,000 along with traditional silver Gurj (Gadda) and Patta by the chief guest, while Kamaljot got Rs 10,000.
In the second main bout, Jakker Hussain of Sarore in Jammu defeated Happy of Jullandhar. Rs 4,000 was awarded to Jakker while Happy got Rs 3,000.
The technical committee members included Mohd. Fareed, Shokat Wani, Prem Kumar, PR Sharma and Shafqat Hussain Bagwan , President Dangal Committee Bhadarwah.
Meanwhile, in another wrestling event at Akhnoor, Jammu, young wrestler Tek Singh of Reasi inflicted shocking defeat on experienced Parladh Singh in a tough bout which lasted for 10 minutes at Mallara Panchayat, here.
Winner received a cash prize of Rs 1500, while the runners-up wrestler got Rs 1000 as cash prize from the members of Rah-Siote Wrestling Committee.
