Aakashdeep brings laurels to J&K, bags first prize in National Chess C’ship

JAMMU, Oct 17: Aakash-deep Singh brought laurels to the State of Jammu and Kashmir by winning first prize in his category during 2nd DCA Open FIDE Rated Chess Tournament in New Delhi.
The event was organized by Delhi Chess Association under the banner of All India Chess Federation at New Delhi.
A total of 481 players from across the country participated in the tournament which included 2 Grandmasters, 8 International Masters and 419 International rated chess players.
In tough fought battles with a better tie break score, Aakashdeep Singh emerged as winner while Trinabh Bhatnagar of Delhi bagged second prize in the same category. Aakashdeep has been listed as the fastest growing chess player in 2016 by Asian Chess federation, when he secured 227 points in a single Grand Masters Tournament held in New Delhi.
The cash prizes and trophies were distributed by Anurag Garg, Joint Director Central Bureau of Investigations and Bharat Singh, Secretary, All India Chess Federation in the presence of AK Verma, Secretary Delhi Chess Association and Grandmaster Mircea Parligras.
