JAMMU, Nov 10: To keep the tradition alive an impressive procession of Chehlum in memory of martyrs of Karbala was taken out in here today.
The procession was taken out under the banner of Anjuman-e-Imamia Jammu which started from Peer Mitha Sofi Shah and passed through its traditional route of Lakhdata Bazar, Rajinder Bazar, Ghaas Mandi Chowk, Wazarat road and culminated at Karbala complex later.
Thousands of mourners reciting Mercia and Novha in memory of the martyrs of Karbala participated in the procession. The people of different faiths also paid their tributes to the martyrs of Karbala.
Moulana Syed Ali Badshah Naqvi, Imam Jumma threw light on the battle of Karbala which was a victory of good over evil. He said by laying down their lives the martyrs of Karbala defeated the evil forces and set an example for the entire humanity to tread on the path truth and righteousness.
He said it was because of the supreme sacrifice of Imam Hussain and his 72 companions that Islam is alive today. He sacrificed every thing for the sake of humanity and Islam. He further added that after 1400 years people still observed Moharram with same passion.
The mourners also expressed their solidarity with the people of Bahrian, Yemen, Palestine and Nigeria. However in various sermons the clerics said that Karbala teaches all the communities to come out of ignorance and fight against those who are killing and committing atrocities across the world.
Earlier in the morning a blood donation camp was also organized by Anjuman-e-Imamia in collaboration with Shaheed Mutahiri Library New Plots, Anjuman-e Haidery, New Plots and ALMSAJ to pay homage to martyrs of Karbala. Donors from Jammu, Poonch, Gursai, Surankote, Mandi, Kashmir and especially students from Ladakh and Kargil Students Association participated in the blood donation camp.
While talking to media Prof Sujat Khan, secretary, Anjuman-e-Imamia Jammu said that we are doing this noble cause of donating blood for the sake of humanity that we have learned from the battle of Karbala.
He said to maintain communal harmony once again Jammuites showed the example of brotherhood as people from different communities participated in the procession. The president of the Anjuman -e-Imamia, Syed AmanatAli Shah also participated in the procession.
To commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, thousands of mourners from Shia section of Muslims today joined the procession of Ashoora which was taken out in Ramban today. A procession of chehlum was taken out from its traditional route via National Highway and culminated at Imam barga Ali Nagar Kunfer Chanderkote, in which people from all religious faith joined the procession. President Anjuman-e-Imamia Kunfer Chanderkote addressed the gathering.
Presenting the vote of thanks after culmination of the procession, Prof Sujat Khan thanked the administration for their cooperation and support to make the event successful. He also complimented all those Shia organizations which took part in today’s procession.
