Jharkhand 220/5 against J&K’s 376

JAMMU, Nov 10: Jharkhand were 220/5 against Jammu and Kashmir’s first innings total of 376 in the Ranji Trophy Group-B match at Jamshedpur in Jharkhand.
Wicket-keeper batsman, Ishan Kishan (11) and Deobrat (13) were at the crease when the stumps were drawn on day-2 today.
Earlier, resuming from an overnight total of 357/6, J&K batsmen managed to add just 19 runs to score 376 in their first innings. Overnight unbeaten batsmen Punit Bisht was dismissed on 115 runs and Owais Shah on 84 runs. For Jharkhand, Varun Aaron was the pick of the bowlers taking 4 important wickets, while Shahbaz Nadeem, Sonu Singh and Sunny Gupta claimed 2 wickets each.
In reply, Jharkhand openers Nazim Siddiqui and Anand Singh played brilliantly to score 70 and 68 runs respectively to give their side a solid foundation. Saurabh Tiwari also contributed 25 runs. From J&K, skipper Parvez Rasool and Mohd Mudhasir took 2 wickets each, while Amir Aziz claimed one wicket.
Meanwhile, at Rajkot Cheteshwar Pujara missed out on a second successive double hundred but his 182 went a long way in Saurashtra piling up a mammoth 570 in their first innings against Gujarat on the second day of the Ranji Trophy.
Starting the day at 115 not out, Pujara added 69 runs for the fifth wicket with Jaydev Shah (46) and 53 runs for the sixth wicket Prerak Mankad (62).
Pujara’s 182 came off 313 balls with 24 boundaries and was finally bowled by left-arm spinner Siddharth Desai.
Prerak played a breezy knock striking seven fours and a six in 77 balls. It was Chirag Jani’s unbeaten 46 that took Saurashtra past 550-run mark.
In reply, Gujarat were 45 for no loss.
