KATHUA, Oct 5: Six teams made it to the quarterfinals of the ongoing Inter-Collegiate Kabaddi Tournament for men, being organised by Government Degree College Kathua.
The spotlight of the day was the closely fought match between teams of PG Departments of University of Jammu and GDC Mendhar. GDC Mendhar was defeated by the University team, who made it to quarterfinals, by 13 points (39-26).
In another interesting match played between GDC Bhaderwah and GDC Khour, the GDC Bhaderwah team defeated its opponent by 3 points (31-28) and also entered quarterfinals.
Other teams who secured their place in quarterfinals were GDC Poonch, SPMR College of Commerce, GDC Kathua and GDC Paloura by defeating their opponent teams from GDC Samba (28-11), GDC Billawar (37-16), GDC Bishnah (32-14) and GDC Hiranagar (26-8).
Ramesh Kumar, District Development Commissioner, Kathua was the special guest during the matches, while Principal of the college, Prof Kartar Chand was also present on the occasion.
