Bright prospects Sir, Indian cricket has been to show sign of improvement since the day Sachin was once again selected Indian captain. After this decision they, the selectors, took a very wise step and appointed Mr Kapil Dev as cricket coach. It was the decision which was desired by the spectators. Mr Kapil Dev has a lot of experience with him. He is something extra-ordinary. He has played many matches with the players playing at present, like Sachin, Sourav, Kumble, Jadeja, Robin etc. He can co-operate with captain well than any other coach. He has good influence over all cricket players playing in the team. Sachin is world's best batsman but he has to prove his captaincy too. Coach is experienced, so Sachin should take wise decisions to use full strength of his team mates to win every match. Sachin has responsibility and calibre to beat this challenge. Just after the announcement of Kapil's appointment, India beat West Indies in Toronto, played well in four nation tournament except final and at present is performing very well. Yours etc... |
A deliberate ploy Sir, This refers to the letter ''Ambiguous about conspiracy' by M M Munshi in response to the News item ''Article 370 is feeding ground for the parasites at the heart of paradise'' of your paper of 27th October 99. The learned writer Mr M M Munshi seems to be incorrect in dubbing Mr Kotwal the State BJP President as a confused man or wants to confuse the readers....the public about the so-called conspiracy alleged to have been hatched by Pt Nehru and Sheikh Abdullah deliberately in allowing Pakistan to capture area of Jammu (that is non-Kashmiri speaking areas). May I ask the learned writer Sh. Munshi why the areas of Mirpur district such as Mangla, Alibegh, Gurdawara, the town of Mirpur, the town of Bhimber and Manawar which were being held even after the arrival of Indian Army intentionally remained unattended to and no reinforcement was sent to the state forces to retain these areas. No help was sent to Lt Col Sher Jang Thapa who resisted the Pakistani Forces for about six months and peristed for extra forces before surrendering in August 1948. Again General L P Sen in his most famous book Slender was the thread says ''whenever his forces would try to proceed west of Uri, he could feel the authorities pulling him south ward''. The above three events and other factors raised a stink of conspiracy that the Non-Kashmiri speaking areas were abandoned only to help Sheikh Abdullah to rule the state. Had these areas been recovered/retained there would have been a majority of non-Kashmiri speaking people and Jammuites would have tilted the balance of political power in their favour. According to Rakshat Puri there have been no sufficient comments even after the lapse of about fifty years that why non Kashmiri speaking areas of the state were abandoned? I do hope that Sh. Munshi will realise that this was done only to favour Sheikh Abdullah. The main actors in this game were Sheikh Abdullah, Pt. Nehru and Chaudhary Gulam Abbas who was released from the Jammu Jail and was allowed to go to Pakistan. A time is not far off when this conspiracy would be unfolded by the research scholars engaged in the modern history of Jammu and Kashmir State. Yours etc... |
Diwali celebrations Sir, We NRI's in Atlanta (USA) celebrated Diwali on Sunday with great festivities. There are about 20,000 Hindus living in Atlanta, majority of whom are from state of Gujrat. There are five Hindu temples-Hare-Krishna temple, Swaminarayan temple, Shakti Mandir, Sri Venketeshwra temple and Indian American Cultural Center temple. In all the above temples, religious Sankirtan and prayers were conducted and Maha Prasad was served regardless of colour, nationality and linguistic origin of the devotees. Last week, I visited Raghunath Mandir, Ranvireshwar temple at Jammu (my native place) and Krishna Janambhumi-Mathura and various temples in Vrindavan along with my mother and brother. I also had an opportunity to attend Harinam Sankirtan at Mr M L Gupta's residence at Gaudia Math at Rani-Ka-Talab, Jammu and tried to visit Hare-Krishna Temple at Gole Gujral. This was a pilgrimage trip for me to City of Temples and Vrajbhumi. I hope and wish that Jammu becomes a leader in the religious awakening and Pakistan inspired terrorism is replaced by messages of love as propagated by Santan dharma. Yours etc... |
