4 civilians killed, 5 Armymen injured in Karnah shelling

SRINAGAR, Nov 11: While as the family of a J&K Police Inspector has been wiped out with the killing of four civilians at Karnah, close to Line of Control (LoC), in north Kashmir, as many as fourteen persons -- 6 BSF personnel, 4 militants and 4 civilians -- have got killed in a daytime encounter of militants and security forces at Panzipora village, near Sopore. In other incidents of violence, identified (and later apprehended) gunmen have shot dead a civilian at Dangarpora, Sopore, and unidentified militants have gunned down a counter-insurgent source of security forces at Pulwama town this evening.............more

Sharif charged with treason, may face death penalty

Deposed Prime Minister Nawaz SharifISLAMABAD, Nov 11: Deposed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and seven others have been charged of treason and kidnapping that carry death penalty reviving memories of conviction and execution of late premier Zulfiquar Ali Bhutto, two decades ago. The charges filed by the police after midnight on Thursday accused Sharif of criminal conspiracy to kill Army Chief Gen Pervez Musharraf and of attempting to hijack a plane, police said. The charges, on a complaint by a senior Army Officer Col Attiq Usman Kiyani filed on behalf of the new military Government in the Karachi airport police station.........more
